Benefits of Nova-ST platform
- Nova-ST is species-agnostic and is compatible with various species.
- No special instrumentation needed for processing tissue samples on Nova-ST platform.
- Nova-ST is derived from dense nano-patterned randomly barcoded Illumina NovaSeq 6000 S4 sequencing flow cells. This method gives comparable resolution to BGI Stereoseq, SeqScope & PIXEL seq.
- Nova-ST spatial array has a functional capture area of upto 10 mm x 8 mm.
- Functionalized transcriptome capture surface of the Nova-ST chip is oligonucleotide-functionalized nano-wells arranged in a hexagonal pattern. Nanopatterned spots are 300 nm is diameter and the pitch between the spots is ~625 nm. Roughly, about 200 – 300 spots capture the footprint of single cell on Nova-ST platform.
More details can be found in our Nova-ST paper.
Costsaving
Nova-ST enables customized, low cost, flexible, and high-resolution spatial profiling of broad range of tissue section sizes (upto 10mm x 8 mm). Nova-ST costs (including the reagents for first strand synthesis & sequencing library prep) approximately 7.5 € per mm2 of spatial area (excluding cost of sequencing). This is around 17% of the list price (~45 € per mm2) of both the BGI Stereo-seq and the newly released 10X Genomics Visium HD.
